Maatiam Privacy Policy

Maatiam takes your privacy seriously. We take great care to protect your private and confidential information. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we may collect from you when you visit and use the Maatiam Site and participate in the Program, how that information may be used, and under what circumstances that information may be disclosed to third parties. By using the Maatiam Site and participating in the Program, you consent to the data practices prescribed in this Privacy Policy. Please note that all capitalized terms and phrases not defined in this Privacy Policy shall carry the meanings ascribed to them in the Maatiam Terms of Use available on the Maatiam Site. All references to "you" and "your" refer to the user of the Maatiam Site and Program. All references to "Maatiam," "we," "us" and "our" refer to Maatiam, Inc. and its affiliate entities.

We consider information that may be used to identify an individual, including but not limited to, a first and last name, home or other physical address, an e-mail address, phone number or other contact information, whether at work or at home, to be "Personal Information".

  • We will not rent or sell your Personal Information to third parties for marketing or any other purposes, except as set forth in Section B below.
  • We will not share your Personal Information with another User without your consent.
  • We will not share your Personal Information with Enrolled Organizations that you support without your consent.
  • We will not collect Personal Information other than that which is necessary to facilitate and improve our services.
  • Any Personal Information that you provide will be secured with industry standard protocols and technologies.

A. Information Collection and Use

1. Users

You may use the Maatiam Site and Program without registration. You may otherwise optionally register with Maatiam. We require your e-mail address when you register, and you may optionally provide additional Personal Information such as a postal address. We may send important notices, updates, and other communications to registered Users, if you opt-in to receive such communications.

You will be asked to designate an Enrolled Organization to receive contributions from purchases you make in connection with the Program. You may opt-in to disclose your name, email, and total contribution to the Enrolled Organization that you are supporting.

As you use the Program to make purchases from Merchants, Maatiam may collect information about transactions originating from the Maatiam Site. Merchants from which you make purchases may provide reports to Maatiam that show your purchases. Maatiam may disclose transaction information to Merchants in event of transaction inquiries. This retail transaction information is necessary to identify contributions to our Enrolled Organizations.

You may opt-in to identify your preferred Merchants to Maatiam. We may use that information to send you promotions in which you may be interested. You may unsubscribe from these Merchant promotions. We will not sell, lease, or rent this information to any third party.

2. Enrolled Organizations

If you submit an Application for your nonprofit organization, we require your name, e-mail address, and a postal address and phone number for your nonprofit organization. We may use that information to send you important notices, updates and other communications related to the Program.

3. Guests

Maatiam may also collect Maatiam Site usage information necessary to administer the Maatiam Site and maintain the quality of the Program.

4. Your Contacts

If you use the "Tell a Friend" feature, you may enter or upload names and emails of your contacts, and/or enter user credentials to your webmail or contact providers. Maatiam may use these personal information only for the purpose of sending your invitations. These information will not be kept or used for any other purpose.

B. Exceptional Disclosures

1. Legal Requirements

Maatiam may disclose your Personal Information, without notice, only if requested to do so by legal authorities, required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the law or comply with legal process served on Maatiam; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Maatiam; or (c) protect and defend the personal safety of Users or the public.

2. Sale of Maatiam

If Maatiam should ever file for bankruptcy or be acquired by a third party, merge with a third party, sell all or part of the Maatiam assets, or otherwise transfer substantially all of its relevant assets to a third party, it may sell or share the Personal Information and all other information you have provided through the Maatiam Site to such third party.

C. Children

To comply with The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), you must confirm that you are thirteen (13) years of age or older by checking the appropriate box in order to register for the Maatiam Site or submit an Application. Children under thirteen (13) years of age may only use Maatiam anonymously.

D. Cookies

A cookie is simply a text file which indicates your Maatiam ID or session identification number. We use this cookie to: (a) identify returning users; or (b) to track current session information. Maatiam may also use a cookie to remember the Enrolled Organization you choose so you do not need to choose again during your subsequent visits. Maatiam does not store any other information in cookies. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. However, certain features may only be available if cookies are enabled in your browser. A cookie cannot read information stored on your hard drive or read cookie files from other websites. The cookie does not contain your Personal Information.

E. Security Measures

At Maatiam, protecting your Personal Information is important to us. The Maatiam Site employs standard, commercially available technologies to protect data as it passes over the Internet. The Maatiam Site server is located in a secure environment with strict security measures.

F. Merchant and Third Party Privacy Practices

The Maatiam Site contains links to the web sites of Merchants and other third parties. Maatiam does not manage Merchant and third party web sites, and Maatiam does not have access to servers associated with such sites. Maatiam is not responsible for the processing of any transaction or order placed on any Merchant web site, nor is Maatiam responsible for the privacy practices of Merchants or third parties. Any information you provide to a Merchant or third party web site is not governed by this Privacy Policy but by the privacy policy, if any, of such Merchant or third party. If you have any questions regarding the privacy practices of a Merchant or third party, please review the appropriate Merchant or third party privacy policy or contact the Merchant or third party directly.

G. Changing or Removing Information

You can update or change Personal Information collected by Maatiam by logging into your account. You can also choose how you would like Maatiam to communicate with you or opt-out completely from our communications.
